In-process feeds are routinely analyzed to support least cost formulation, where multiple ingredients may be added to the feed to generate a certain protein or fat level. The SpectraStar 2500 Rotating Top Window is the instrument of choice for the feed and forage industry. The SpectraStar 2500 wavelength range of 1100-2500 nm encompasses the critical wavelengths in the NIR spectrum that are necessary for accurate measurement of all required constituents. This wavelength range also matches other scanning monochromator instrument from NIRSystems, Foss, and Bran+Luebbe, making it easy to transfer calibration databases to the SpectraStar.
The TransStar software is used to transfer calibration databases from any scanning NIR instrument to the SpectraStar. Databases that took years to create can be transferred to the SpectraStar in minutes. Databases that have been transferred to the SpectraStar appear as if they were originally collected using the SpectraStar. This means that additional SpectraStar data can be added over time to make calibrations even more robust.
