Sugar
Several methods of analysis are used during the breakfast cereal manufacturing process to ensure food quality control of food moisture including near infrared (NIR) analysis, wet chemistry analysis and image analysis. Unity offers a full range of solutions for the sugar industry that include at-line, on-line and laboratory systems for both Near Infrared analysis and also image analysis.
The Unity Scientific SpectraStar 2400 and 2500 near infrared Spectrometers provide the rapid analysis of sugar juice for brix and pol. The typical analysis time is <30 seconds. The SpectraStar provides the rapid analysis of crushed sugar cane, dry press cane, filter cake, and bagasse for moisture, sugar and cellulose. The open sample technology provides analysis of samples ranging in size. The open geometry of the Top Window design allows for analysis of large samples. These samples can be analyzed “as is” and adaptors are available for smaller samples. Sample handling is available for both liquid and solid samples. Unity Scientific also provides the ABB Bomem Network nir on-line process analysis of sugar cane juices.
Speck Analysis offers a unique opportunity to detect artifacts and specks within the product that do not belong in the final product. Both at-line and on-line measurements can be made to detect the presence and be able to quantify the amount of specks in a sample quickly and economically.
